Lukes Musical Dream in Korea

An incredible voice echoed through a narrow cobblestone street just outside of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, Korea. As we turned the corner we saw a young man passionately playing a worn down guitar with a broken string. Once the song finished we talked with the young man, Lukes Forguy, to discover how he got started in music and what “Living the Dream” means to him.

While attending university to earn his degree in social services, he realized he enjoyed playing music more than studying. After many late nights watching YouTube videos and working with a close friend and mentor, he learned how to play guitar. Shortly after he watched the movie Once, a musical love story starring Glen Hansard. He felt the movie was written about his life and ultimately inspired him to start playing at local venues in and around Seoul. Even though he stays busy working venues, Lukes says he loves playing on the street because he gets to connect with people and learn about their lives.

Lukes dream is to become a famous singer and songwriter in Korea and Japan. Through his music he hopes to inspire others to follow their passions and dreams in life, regardless of what society says is best.
